Welcome back to our page!
We’ve been winding down for Christmas recently in 3A!
Our classroom looks really nice with lots of decorations we have made to brighten up our environment in celebration of Eid and Christmas!
A few weeks ago we went to the whitworth art gallery and spent some time thinking about what life would be like as a refugee. Since we’ve been back in school we have worked making videos using the pictures and sound clips from our trip to the gallery. It’s been lots of fun!
We have also been working on our class assembly! Our topic is still a secret but we hope to perform it to the rest of the school in the new year, fingers crossed it all goes well!
Mr Sherring is now staying in our class until the end of the school year, so we all look forward to coming back and making a fresh start in 2009!
See you then!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone in 3A!
Miss Barrett
3A update!
Hi everyone its been a while since we’ve updated our page so here’s a quick catch up with what we’ve been doing in our class!
Our trip to the Manchester museum was really fun and we learned about life during the blitz before getting the chance to dance to an Elvis song!
After that we had a week off and everyone enjoyed the chance to relax over the half term holidays!
Last week it was bonfire night and we all discussed the wonderful colours we had seen whilst watching the fireworks.
In Literacy our topic for the next few weeks is myths and legends and we’ve had lots of fun learning about this. We have learnt how to stage our own mythical story after reading about the legends of grendel and beowulf which we really enjoyed.
In numeracy we have been working on data handling. We learnt about bar charts and tally charts then we made a huge class pictograph which showed all of our favourite lessons, the one we liked most was games!
In our PE lessons in the hall we have been working on dance routines, we were moved around like we were bombs during the world war two blitz.
In our science lessons we are learning about light and shadow. With torches we learnt about when shadows are long and when they are short depending on where the sun is in the sky.
Tommorrow, as its children in need, we can come in in our own clothes if we pay £1 to raise money for the charity.
Come back to our website soon to find out what else we have been getting up to in 3A!
Miss Barrett
Welcome back to our page!
There have been a few technical problems with our website recently and we haven’t been able to log in to update our page. But we have been really busy in 3A!
Two weeks ago we had our Eid celebrations and a great Eid party in our class!
We played musical chairs, sleeping lions, musical statues and had a dance competition! Then we ate the lovely food which everybody brought in for us to share, it was a brilliant day!
After Eid week everyone came back to do some hard work. In our numeracy we learnt about multiplications learning how to do our 2,3,5 and 10 times tables.
In our literacy lessons we were learning about reports. We all made bullet points about world war two information and later wrote our own reports about rationing, the blitz and evacuation during the war.
This week we learnt about Anne Frank in our topic lessons and in literacy we imagined what life was like for Anne Frank and wrote our own wartime diary’s. Lots of children even asked for homework!
In numeracy this week we have been going over our number bonds to 10, 20 and 30.
We decorated photo frames this week in art and had pictures taken with our friends to put in our frames. We thought about which pictures we would like to take with us if we had to be evacuated from our homes like the children who lived during world war two.
We have also been practising our singing ready for our singing square next week. Our chosen songs are ‘Singing in the rain’, ‘Rule Britannia, marmalade and jam’ and ‘Dad has dropped his fish and chips’ we are really looking forward to singing to the rest of the school on Tuesday.
In our games lessons we have been practising our ball control; throwing, catching and dribbling! And we have also been enjoying our recorder lessons!
This week it was also parents evening and Mr Sherring and Miss Barrett had the chance to meet everybody’s parents and discuss the progress made so far this year in 3A.
On Friday we are going on a trip to the Manchester Museum to an exhibition called ‘Blitz, change and rock and roll’, we are all very excited!!!
Come back soon to our page to find out what we are doing in the last week before the half term holidays!!!

Welcome back to 3A!
This week we have been really busy in 3A!
In Literacy ‘This week we have been doing syllables, we had to clap our hands to count how many syllables there were in the words’ - Written by Rajiyah
In Numeracy ‘Last week in maths we learnt about money and at first some people struggled but by the end everyone got it right. This week we did shapes and we had to half rectangles and see if two triangles put together made a four sided shape’ - Written by Orla
In our topic this week we learnt about the blitz. The blitz was when Hitler dropped bombs on Britain. Mrs Young taught us all about air raid shelters and that some people used to plant vegetables on top of theirs! Mrs Young also told us she was born 6 years after the war had ended and that her grandad had an air raid shelter in his garden.
Here is a picture of a house that was damaged during the blitz
In art we drew pictures of straight lined people sleeping in air raid shelters.
This week in 3A!

In our numeracy lessons we learnt about number problems and money.
